The Open Couple

Yesterday I went to watch a comedy starring Theo, called The Open Couple.

"The play deals with the fate of women in a society in which both the social system in which they live and its dominant ideology are shaped by men. The story revolves around a couple which is contemplating the virtues and vices of an open relationship."

It was really funny and true at the same time. Also, I think Theo's personality was rather suitable for the character he played ... It was professionally interpreted, I had a really good time.

The Island

Hmmm ... I've just noticed I didn't talk about Sin City in this cinema section. It's a pity, that was a great movie ...

I went to see The Island this week-end, with somebody I refuse to name by respect for him :). This is the story of some clones trying to escape their kind of prison. However the subtitle "plan your escape", there's nothing planned, it's just a nice context for a typical action movie race... With Starwars-like flying motor bikes (even sound is the same), beautiful cars, helicopters, etc. All déjà vu. Add on top of that lots of ads for Puma, Xbox, Msn Search or Cisco. Conclusion: not recommended.

It's gonna get better

I've taken my old CD case and found this album of genesis, Mama. If my memory is good, it's one of the first vinyl I've listen to when I was a kid. I remember very well looking at this yellow game cubes on black background for hours...

This is the end of the lyrics of the last song of the album, It's Gonna Get Better.
genesis-mama If it's gonna get better, it starts with a feeling
If it's gonna get better, it's gonna take time
If it's gonna get better, we've gotta start now
Cos I know, everybody can feel it
And I know, everybody will see it
Cos it shows, and that shows I'm not dreaming
Cos you know, and I know, it's time for change

The 9th of Ludwig Van

Yesterday night, I went to see (and listen to :)) a concert by the Imperial College Choir (Maria sings in it) and the Imperial College Symphony Orchestra.
"And what do you know, my brothers and only friends, it was the 9th, the glorious 9th of Ludwig Van" (guess the movie it comes from...). Listen to a CD is rather nice, but listen to hundred of singers is completely great (c) Brice ...

Me and Bobby

Bobby Yesterday Rachel dragged us to the Spitz to see (and listen ;)) a gig by Me and Bobby. Actually she knows the Norwegian singer - Nan - that you can see on the picture. She has an amazing voice. The concert was really lovely. We all had a very good time.
You can download a couple of their songs on their blog, but honestly it's completly different in live !

Free As A Bird

But now I'm free as a bird
As I walk out that door
You have my word
I won't bother you no more
Yes I'm feeling OK
As I face the brand new day
As I face the brand new day

Wish you were here

I listen quite a lot of Supertramp and Pink Floyd at the office since a couple of days. Don't know why... If you have the answer, please send me an e-mail.

How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl,
Year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found?
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

Kansas of Elsass

cdkansas Since I'm in UK I like even more to listen to French music. Even better is to listen to Alsatian music (from Alsace - my home region). As Kansas enjoys speaking English and said that "if you love these songs, you have to say it around you", I let you discover his particular accent.
This extract (ogg) from the intro of his album will provide you with a preview ;) ...

The Aviator

(Directed by martin Scorsese, starring DiCaprio, ...) Don't go to watch this crap movie. I wanted to left the room after half-an-hour. Even Mommas said it was not as good as expected. So you've been warned...
